In Good Company launches Artist Network for Midlands theatre makers and companies

In Good Company, the Midlands’ flagship, professional creative and business development programme for theatre makers and companies in the region, continues to thrive, evolve and provide more fantastic opportunities than ever before with the launch of its Artist Network.

In Good Company’s Artist Network is an open access, physical collection of theatre makers which will become a digital directory. This coincides with the launch of In Good Company’s new website, in addition to its newsletter, outlining the core artist development offer, whilst acting as a catalyst for artist develop opportunities right across the Midlands. This refresh of the network will continue to enable artists to keep up to date with opportunities across the region but will also enable artists to connect with potential collaborators and unlock new relationships and opportunities.

Over the past 12 months, In Good Company has:

  • Financially supported 22 new shows
  • Ran over 150 artist surgeries
  • Offered over £25,000 worth of in-kind rehearsal space
  • Provided 2,058 artists with the chance to engage in workshops and events

Just over 12 months ago, In Good Company secured funding from Arts Council England’s Project Grants to continue the programme for a further three years. In conjunction, the partnership moved from a five-partner venue programme to 10. Each venue invests varying amounts of partnership funding, in-kind space and resource into the project, allowing companies to access more support across the region.

Led by Derby Theatre, the IGC partners are Derby Theatre, Attenborough Arts Centre, Burton Brewhouse, Lincolnshire One Venues, Mansfield Old Library, Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton, Nonsuch Studios in Nottingham, Curve in Leicester, Nottingham Playhouse and New Diorama in London.

I’m so proud of the artists who have seized the many opportunities available and navigated their own way through the programme. The programme is so expansive now, and each artist has a bespoke journey through it, marrying both their entrepreneurial and their creative skills. We have a wealth of venues tied together now through our core artist development offer, which hopefully now complements the work they are also doing as the region’s venues. I think that’s what makes the programme so successful. As a regional collective, championing artist development, we have something really special and unique and through this artist directory we can help more people, help themselves too.”
