WritersLab

We are currently creating different opportunities for writers in the region to grow their craft. We are not a specialist new writing theatre with a literary department and so have limited capacity to read scripts, offer dramaturgical feedback or commission. However we are keen to find and support diverse and exciting writers from the region through our Writerslab programme as well as working with other specialist organisations to provide specific opportunities.

• Ben’s Writer’s Course
  • Professional playwright Ben Weatherill ran an 8 week playwriting course to create a play. This was aimed at anyone over 18 who would like to explore being a playwright. Eight writers were selected from sending in a writing sample and script ideas were developed and shared at an event in November 2022
• Script Windows
  • Twice a year we will have a window for script submissions. A reader will read the first ten pages of a script and will write brief feedback. Any plays with substantial promise will be read and passed to the artistic team for further consideration.
