My Country Acting Workshop

Calling all young actors aged 13 – 19 years!

In the days following the Brexit vote, a team from the National Theatre of Great Britain spoke to people nationwide, aged 9 to 97, to hear their views on the country we call home.

In a series of deeply personal interviews, they heard opinions that were honest, emotional, funny, and sometimes extreme. These real testimonials are interwoven with speeches from party leaders of the time in this new play by Carol Ann Duffy, Poet Laureate, and director Rufus Norris and is being performed at Curve between 25 – 29 Apr.

People from Leicester were interviewed to be part of this new work. You were not able to vote and now we want to give you the opportunity to have your say!

Over two days of acting and devising workshops, you will use the process of verbatim theatre, to create your own responses to My Country. These will be performed in a curtain raiser on the set before the main show on Fri 28 Apr.

DATES:
Wed 12 Apr 10am – 3pm
Thu 13 Apr 10am – 3pm
Wed 26 Apr 5pm – 9pm
Fri 28 Apr 5pm rehearsal, 6.30pm pre show performance, 7.45pm show

As part of this project you will also be able to take part in a workshop led by the National Theatre on Wed 26 Apr 5pm, and a chance to see the production on Fri 28 Apr  after your performance.
