Based on the real life experiences of writer and film-maker Purva Naresh, this darkly comedic play tells the story of two documentary-makers who set out to explore the lives of rural Indian women.

Curve Theatre present the world premiere stagings of two extraordinary new plays written by a pair of rising stars within India’s ever-growing theatre community.  Originally developed by the award-winning Royal Court Theatre in collaboration with Rage Productions, Mumbai and the British Council, these plays offer a stunning, surprising perspective on Indian life today.

Purva Naresh is originally from Lucknow. She studied film production at the Film and Television Institute of India. She is also a Kathak dancer and percussionist. Her short film AsfanehBai Se Bioscope Tak has received a number of awards. She co-wrote and directed the musical play Preth which premiered at the NCPA Centrestage Festival and her short play Aabodana has performed widely as part of Rage Theatre’s One on One Season.

This show contains strong language and adult themes.

INSIDE OUT is our first major festival celebrating talent within our region. Over the course of ten days, a range of shows, workshops and events will take place to celebrate the work of the East Midlands’ leading theatremakers; and offer emerging talents an opportunity to develop their skills through partnerships with IdeasTapBBC WritersroomThe Actors Centre and more.
