A stage adaptation of Kavita Puri's acclaimed book

The 1947 partition of the Indian subcontinent into India and Pakistan saw millions uprooted and resulted in unspeakable violence. It would also shape modern Britain. Witnesses to this brutal moment in history live among us, yet the stories of that time remain shrouded in silence.

SILENCE is a new play from Tara Theatre focused on communal storytelling – presenting a shared history inspired by the remarkable personal testimonies of people who lived through the last days of the British Raj.

GRAZIANO DI PRIMA: BELIEVE

Following his sixth consecutive year on Strictly Come Dancing, Graziano Di Prima and his wife, Dancing with the Stars professional Giada Lini, are ready to set the stage ablaze in their electrifying new show.

Calling all revolting children and their parents – come and be a little a bit naughty at Sing-a-Long-a Matilda the Musical, from the producers of Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music and Sing-a-Long-a Frozen.

Now is your chance to interact with this incredible tale of a little girl making her great escape!

Matilda is an extraordinary girl, who armed with a sharp mind and a vivid imagination, dares to take a stand to change her story with miraculous results.

Our host will help you have “a holiday in your head” as they teach you some dance moves, show you how to use your free props bags and have you booing the villains and championing the heroes.

Fancy dress is strongly encouraged and full audience participation essential.

MASS MOVEMENT 2024

Celebrating exceptional youth dance talent from across Leicestershire, the event will see a series of pieces specially selected by a panel of dance industry experts that the young dancers and choreographers have created.

This annual sell-out event is an insight into the wealth of dance and creativity in the county and provides talented young people with a platform to showcase their work. Many of Curve’s partner youth groups will feature in this line up including our very own CYCC Dance, Moving Together youth, and Sidekick youth.

The performances will have the opportunity to be selected to progress to the U.Dance National Festival in Liverpool in July 2024.

English Touring Opera: Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress

Young Tom Rakewell’s quiet life with his sweetheart Anne is turned upside down when the mysterious Nick Shadow comes to his door with whispers of wealth and luxury. But Nick soon finds out that the Devil finds work for idle hands, and that the promises of London life aren’t what they seem.

Igor Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress is a cynical but sympathetic tale of a young man’s fall. ETO’s new production is helmed by Polly Graham, Artistic Director of Longborough Festival Opera, and the highly regarded conductor and composer Jack Sheen.

Performed in English with English surtitles.

Age Guidance: 11+
Running Time: 2 hours and 55 minutes (including a 20 minute interval)

English Touring Opera: Puccini's Manon Lescaut

Manon Lescaut is a devastating depiction of a woman wrestling with her desire for love on her own terms, and the rigid double standards imposed on her by society. The opera was a breakthrough smash for Giacomo Puccini, composer of the timeless classics La bohème, Tosca and Madame Butterfly, full of memorable music and heartbreaking drama.

Jude Christian, fresh from a critically acclaimed Titus Andronicus at London’s Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, brings incisive direction and a sharp, poetic new translation to her radical new production, while ETO Music Director Gerry Cornelius conducts.

Performed in English with English surtitles.

Running Time: 2 hours and 55 minutes (including a 20 minute interval)

SILENCE is a new play focused on communal storytelling – presenting a shared history inspired by the remarkable personal testimonies of people who lived through the last days of the British Raj. Commissioned to mark the 75th anniversary of partition, SILENCE is adapted from Kavita Puri’s acclaimed book Partition Voices: Untold British Stories and was originally co-produced with the Donmar Warehouse.

Learn with top artists in Curve Classroom

Since January, we're proud to have supported home-schooling during the third national lockdown with our educational initiative, Curve Classroom.

The free sessions cover a range of topics for all ages and are delivered by a host of leading artists including performers Molly Lynch, Garry Robson and Hareet Deol, Designers Grace Smart and Kate Unwin, Director Julia Thomas, Choreographers Arlene Phillips and Mel Knott, Writers Jess Green and Rob Ward, as well as a number of Midlands-based artists local to Curve in Leicester.
