Exploring Musical Theatre

Led by Alex Sutton and Steve Duguid with Mel Knott

                       

Focusing on established musicals from the repertoire, including Sunset Boulevard, Hairspray, and The Greatest Showman, you will be part of a group using the three main Musical Theatre skills-Singing, dancing and acting, to create a short performance in Curve’s Rehearsal Room 2 at the end of the week. Great for beginners or performers looking to extend their knowledge of any of the core disciplines.

 

Alex Sutton is a director and choreographer working predominantly in new music theatre, dramaturgy and work with and for young adults.  He has he has worked as director or assistant director at the Bristol Old Vic, the Finborough Theatre, the National Theatre Studio and the Royal Opera House.  Alex is currently directing Curve Young Company Musicals’ production of Our House.

Mel Knott is Curve’s Associate Dance Artist and has choreographed dance and movement for Curve productions of The Witches, Fiddler on the Roof and Oklahoma!  Mel was the Director of Dance at The BRIT School in London before moving to Leicester and leads Curve Young Company Dance, as well as lecturing in dance at De Montfort University.

Steve Duguid is a Musical Director for Curve Young Company Musicals, and is currently in rehearsal for their production of Our House.  Steve is Director of Performing Arts at Brooke Weston Academy.
