Deeply Rooted Dance Theater

Deeply Rooted Dance Theater will be making their UK debut for Let’s Dance International Frontiers 2027 (LDIF27). The company reimagines and diversifies the aesthetics of contemporary dance by uniting modern, classical, American, and African-American traditions in dance and storytelling. Through its uncompromising pursuit of excellence, DEEPLY ROOTED demonstrates the transformative power of art and beauty through dance education, performance, and cultural enrichment from their base in Chicago, USA to the world stage.

Deeply Rooted Dance Theater was co-founded by Kevin Iega Jeff and Gary Abbott with LaVerne Alaphaire Jeff, Diane Shober, and Linda Spriggs and made its public debut in Chicago in 1996. For thirty years, the company have centred the traditions of American and African-American dance, storytelling, and universal themes that spark a visceral experience and ignite an emotional response in diverse audiences worldwide.

The company will present a rich mixed-bill programme featuring the work of renowned choreographers across a spectrum of themes including memory, resistance, togetherness and shared humanity. The programme is soundtracked to an eclectic and joyful mix of music from Aretha Franklin, Mozart, Nina Simone, Donny Hathaway and many others.
