Kim's Convenience

Following hugely successful runs both in London and internationally, KIM’S CONVENIENCE is heading out on a UK tour!

Mr Kim, a Korean Canadian immigrant, runs a convenience store in buzzing Toronto. His heart is big but his world is intimate and family focused, with a lot of good intentions hilariously misplaced.

When an offer comes in from a suave businessman to purchase his shop, Mr Kim is suddenly challenged with facing his future, and the future of his store, and looks to his 30-year-old single daughter Janet who dreams of being a photographer.

This leads to relatable disagreements about parental sacrifices and cultural differences between generations but ultimately, the importance of family.

KIM’S CONVENIENCE is a heart-warming and entertaining play that intimately explores a day in the life of the Kims as they navigate mistakes, forgiveness and an ultimate need for one another.

Show creator Ins Choi says KIM’S CONVENIENCE “is a love letter to my parents and all first-generation immigrants who have made the country they have settled in their home.”
