Synopsis
This October, Stand and Be Counted Theatre brings two thought-provoking experiences to Curve as part of Journeys Festival International.
Who do you trust when you can’t trust yourself?
Written by Rosie MacPherson, performed by Alina Aleva and directed by Gitika Buttoo, F.E.A.R (False Evidence Appearing Real) is a state-of-the-nation play set inside one grown-up girl’s head. A brave, no-holds-barred exploration of collective trauma, it comes with mad beats and straight-talking sanity.
A work-in-progress showing.
Her loves her job as a teacher, it’s everything to her and she’d do anything for the kids in her class. She struggles with her mental health but if she could just shut her Brain up then she’d probably be just fine. She’s an ‘inspirational’ role model for the next generation, secretly building a socialist army of the future in her Year 4 classroom.
But things are taking their toll: the pressure of the job, the terrifying and unrelenting impending doom of fascism and the climate crisis and after ‘The Incident’ she’s confined to her studio flat with only her thoughts to help make things right.
