Dancers, drummers and singers bring their spectacular contemporary take on traditional Palestinian folk dancing for one night only, exclusive to Leicester.
The Ghirass Centre celebrated its 20th Anniversary in April 2014. The centre offers creative and educational opportunities to Palestinian children and young people living in and around Bethlehem and surviving under Israeli military occupation. Students also have the chance to learn about their extensive culture including dancing and singing. For many of the performers, this is their first visit away from home as international travel is rendered so difficult by the constraints of the military occupation.
Leicester Friends of Bethlehem are this year hosting the sixth visit of staff and students from the Ghirass Centre since 2005. We support the Centre through fundraising to cover international travel costs to bring staff and students to the UK to showcase their fabulous talents.
