Inside Out Festival

Glasshouse

Synopsis

Share:

A new play by one of the biggest new talents in British theatre, Glasshouse is about family and how hard it can be to keep loving. Three interwoven stories take us into the lives of members of a single family – fragile, tested by the times in modern Britain, they struggle to stay together and fail to survive apart.

Written by rapper Kate Tempest – the youngest person to ever win the Ted Hughes Award for Poetry – this haunting play draws us into a dark and gritty city illuminated by moments of unexpected tenderness.

This is a theatre event like no other: in the second half of the play, the audience themselves will be invited to change the course of the play as part of a unique “Forum Theatre” experience.

Glasshouse is presented as part of THE LYRIC LOUNGE a larger day of events at Curve created by Writing East Midlands who will bring internationally renowned artists, live literature performances, music, film, masterclasses, open-mic sessions and family-friendly activities, for all ages to enjoy.

INSIDE OUT is our first major festival celebrating talent within our region. Over the course of ten days, a range of shows, workshops and events will take place to celebrate the work of the East Midlands’ leading theatremakers; and offer emerging talents an opportunity to develop their skills through partnerships with IdeasTapBBC WritersroomThe Actors Centre and more.
