Darbar Fringe: Colectiva

Synopsis

Share:

Colectiva explore the spaces between Afro-Latin music and Jazz while reflecting on themes of sisterhood and female empowerment.

Blending wild horn lines with Afro-Latin groove and experimental textures, Colectiva‘s thoughtful arrangements are rooted in the sounds of Africa, Latin America and the diaspora, creating a genre the group have affectionately dubbed jazz tropicaliente, or hot-tropical-jazz.

Running times: 1 hour with no interval.

Now in its third year, Darbar Fringe is an urban, contemporary and classical festival that celebrates the cultural relationship between the UK and the Indian subcontinent, and explores the many creative influences generated by our shared and evolving history.

The festival features three incredible headline acts across three days – find out more about its other performances Afterglow and Anomaly.
