Statement regarding the general on-sale of Les Misérables 12 Mar 2018

Mon 12 Mar 2018

Today Curve went on general sale with tickets for Cameron Mackintosh’s acclaimed Broadway production of Les Misérables.

We knew this was going to be incredibly busy and all of the teams at Curve worked hard to make sure that the systems in place would be able to cope with the high demand we expected. Extra phone lines were added, we increased the capacity that our website server was able to handle and bolstered our Ticket Office team in the building. Unfortunately, the demand turned out to be far greater than we ever imagined. As of 3pm, people have visited our website more than 100,000 times, an unprecedented level for our venue. We also saw 433% more users visiting our website compared to our last major on sale.

While we try to make sure that everyone is able to enjoy an easy booking process, whether they call us, visit our website or come to see us in person, the demand for this internationally acclaimed production has been greater than we have ever seen before. Even with the safeguards we had put in place, our booking system struggled to cope with this incredible volume and some customers were left disappointed.

We completely understand the frustrations from customers who had difficulties purchasing their tickets today. At Curve, we want everyone to be able to enjoy visiting our theatre to watch the incredible productions we have programmed and we are truly sorry that customers have been left so disappointed on this occasion.

For all those who were able to purchase tickets today, we would like to thank you for your patience and look forward to welcoming you to our theatre to see this stunning production in November.

We would like to personally reassure all customers that we will be thoroughly reviewing all of our processes following today’s on sale and will look to continually improve the booking experience for all visitors to Curve.

Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster.
