Moving Stories

Mon 21 May 2018

Join us at Curve this refugee week to perform or direct exclusive writing by Britain’s top playwrights, and stand in solidarity with refugees.

In 2016, the Royal National Theatre played host to an extraordinary benefit performance. Writers Richard Bean, David Edgar, Stephanie Dale, Michelle Terry, Phil Porter, Jenifer Toksvig and Staten Cousin-Roe wrote 7 short plays, 2 songs and a poem to be performed by actors including Juliet Stevenson, David Morrissey, Adjoa Andoh and Rufus Hound.

In 2018 the project is going national and Curve is part of it!

We are looking for both Performers & Directors to work towards a free, informal, rehearsed reading production of short comic scripts.

Call for performers: We are looking for 15 Performers of any background, age 16+ and available to join us on Sun 24 Jun at 10am? If so, see below on how to get involved.

We are also looking for 4 Directors to join us on Sat 23 Jun & Sun 24 Jun to work on this project. On Saturday the team of directors will meet at 2pm to prepare for the following day then on Sun 24 Jun at 10am

The free sharing in Curve Rehearsal Room 2 will then culminate in a discussion with representatives from the City of Sanctuary, Red Cross and Moving Stories Community project. It promises to be a special event.

There is no fee attached to this opportunity – we will gather to offer our time, our creativity, our solidarity and skill in a community response to Refugee week and the issues raised by the project.

If you are interested in performing or directing, please submit a brief expression of interest- no more than one side of A4, outlining your performance experience and contact details.

A performance CV would work if you have one, but isn’t essential. Please use the following subject line for your submission ‘Moving Stories: Performer’ or ‘Moving Stories: Director’ and send to: Andy Reeves, Youth and Community Practitioner: [email protected]
