Meet the Artist: Shruti Chauhan

Meet the community artist working in Rushey Mead

What is your name?

Shruti Chauhan

Where do you live?

Birstall, Leicester

What can’t you live without?

Percy Pigs

What is your secret obsession?

Flossing

What are you most looking forward to/excited about the project?

I can’t wait to see the young people’s excitement and sense of achievement when they perform their work at Curve theatre; a lot will be performing there for the very first time.

What is your Art form/ Performance Style/ Background?

I’m a performance poet, fortunate enough to have performed around the world. I previously toured Three the Hard Way – Part 2 nationally with Jean Binta Breeze MBE and Lydia Towsey, and am currently developing my debut solo show, The Sky Diaries, at Curve.

What does heritage mean to you?

Heritage is that which has shaped us, and shaped our today. An awareness of heritage helps cultivate positive values like gratitude within us, and inevitably encourages us to take responsibility for our tomorrow.
