Thanks to Hastings Direct, hundreds of £5 tickets have been made available to our community to see Curve’s autumn co-production of Hanif Kureishi’s screenplay My Beautiful Laundrette in Leicester
Curve have joined forces with Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Everyman Theatre Cheltenham and Leeds Playhouse to co-produce this brand new ground-breaking Oscar-nominated screenplay.
As part of a shared commitment to the communities of Leicester and Leicestershire, the reduced-price tickets will be available to audience members with low income, bookers under the age of 26 and first-time theatre attenders.
Curve is a registered charity with a commitment to making theatre accessible to all. The theatre already offers a range of accessible tickets for all of its Made at Curve productions and the support from local insurance provider Hastings Direct will enable even more people to enjoy live theatre.
Curve to offer £5 seats to those who might not otherwise be able to attend.
Speaking about the announcement, Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said:
Following our terrific collaboration on The Color Purple, we are delighted once again to be working in partnership with our neighbours Hastings Direct on the My Beautiful Laundrette £5 ticket scheme. We believe passionately that Curve should be accessible for everyone and the support from Hastings Direct will enable us to engage even more people with the work on our stages. Thank you to Andrea Gray and the team from Hastings Direct for making this possible.
Andrea Gray, Operations Director at Hastings Direct said:
“Hastings Direct is delighted to be sponsoring the £5 ticket scheme at Curve. It’s important to us to support and be an active member of the Leicester community so we are thrilled to be giving so many people the opportunity to go to the theatre this autumn. Throughout the year our colleagues work to provide practical and financial help to many good causes and charities within Leicestershire as well as working with local schools, colleges and universities, in the area.”
This bold new production of Hanif Kureishi’s ground-breaking Oscar-nominated screenplay opens at Curve 20 Sep – 5 Oct. The show will then tour to Everyman Theatre Cheltenham (8 – 12 Oct), Leeds Playhouse (15 – 26 Oct), Belgrade Theatre Coventry (29 Oct – 2 Nov) and Birmingham Repertory Theatre (5 – 9 Nov).
