A practical workshop sharing and exploring techniques for writing songs and lyrics for musical theatre with a strong character voice – getting ideas flowing, breaking writer’s block, finding hooks and rhymes, and creating compelling lyrics that speak to the wider themes of the story.
Rob Green
Rob Green is a freelance Musical Director, Creative and Composer from Nottingham, based in Leeds, specialising in actor-musician performance and live, responsive scoring. His work integrates contemporary genres, improvisation and onstage musicianship into narrative theatre, often bridging gig and theatre languages within rehearsal processes.
Musical direction and composition credits include LET THE SUN SHINE IN (Storyhouse), CINDERELLA (Shakespeare North Playhouse), LETTER TO BREZHNEV (Liverpool Royal Court), RED RIDING HOOD: ROCK ’N’ ROLL PANTOMIME (Liverpool Everyman – UK Pantomime Award nomination for Outstanding Contribution to Music) and the OFFIE-nominated THE SNOWY DAY (Polka Theatre / Can’t Sit Still).
He is currently developing his original musical Folklore, composing THE AMAZING PABLO FANQUE (Norwich Theatre) and will be Musically Directing RAPUNZEL at Storyhouse this Christmas.
