UK PREMIERE

A physical dance piece that tells a story of love, loss and sacrifice against the backdrop of the horror and conflict of World War I.

Inspired by Film Noir and the era of black and white films, The Troth/Usne Kaha Tha is a live theatre production which unfolds its poignant narrative through powerful interplay between dance, music and film.

Akademi is marking the centenaries of World War I, Indian cinema and the first Hindi short story (Usne Kaha Tha) with The Troth, a project that reveals the contribution, sacrifice and human cost of Indian soldiers to the allied war effort.
