A Curve and De Montfort University Co-Production

Our annual Made at Curve and De Montfort University co-production returns to the stage with Jim Cartwright‘s seminal state-of-the-nation play, Road.

I feel like England’s forcing the brain out me head.’

On an unnamed northern road in eighties Britain, the inhabitants are stirring. The Prime Minister has forgotten them, unemployment is rife, and the country is on its knees.

But the bar is open.

Poignant, funny and poetic, Road is a portrayal of ordinary people’s lives set against the backdrop of a nation divided. Join an ensemble cast of DMU drama students who will be asking the question, ‘Why’s the world so tough? It’s like walking through meat in high heels.’

After-show Discussion – Join us after the performance on Friday 19 May with Director Cara Nolan and Senior Lecture in Drama at De Montfort University Elinor Parsons alongside members of the Road company, and learn more about how Road was brought to the stage.

Age recommendation 16+ – Contains strong language, with scenes and themes of an adult nature.
