Thu 18 May 2023

An Indian Summer, a festival celebrating contemporary South Asian arts and culture, has announced Nitin Sawhney will be debuting his first music concert in Leicester – taking place at Curve on Sunday 23 July.

An Indian Summer and Curve are excited to bring Nitin Sawhney to celebrate his latest album ‘Immigrants’ released in 2021, along with his back catalogue work. ‘Immigrants’ is a unique celebration of immigrants around the world, showcasing works inspired and contributed by artists who either identify themselves as immigrants, are from immigrant heritage or wish to express support for those international immigrants who have found themselves judged or disadvantaged by pure accident of birth. ‘Immigrants’ will showcase Sawhney in inimitable collaborations with fellow artists as he deftly redefines our perception of identity through the universal language of music.

The internationally renowned artist will be the headline act of an incredible weekend of film, music, dance and theatre, happening across Curve, Orton Square and Jubilee Square, from 21st to 23rd July. Details of the full festival programme will be available on An Indian Summer’s website soon.

Inspirate Director, Jiten Anand, said:

“We are honoured to host one of the most exciting musicians of our time. A pioneer of contemporary South Asian sounds in the 90s and now internationally acclaimed – the concert is set to go down a storm for our fans in the Midlands. This is what we’ve been building An Indian Summer towards after all these years, creating a festival that platforms the very best of contemporary South Asian arts and culture.”
