Fashioning a City

Rushey Mead

Situated between Belgrave and Thurmaston, Rushey Mead hosts a range of exciting heritage stories – from Iron Age burials and the Woolly Mammoth discovered at Watermead Park, to the stories of immigration including the Ugandan Exodus.

Local writer Shruti Chauhan (Curve breakthrough Artist) and Heritage Expert Madeleine Coburn worked with Rushey Mead Academy students to create a piece inspired by local history.

This culminated with a powerful piece of theatre inspired by Local stories focused on the Ugandan Exodus.
