The Tempest

Synopsis

Share:

Following the sell out success of The Red Shoes Kneehigh returns to Leicester with the premiere of their latest theatrical confection.

It is 1964 and we are in the French port of Cherbourg. Jazz, sailors, vin rouge… and, of course, l’amour!

Boy meets girl, and music and rain dance in the air. Our lovers whisper “je t’aime” with the certainty of youth, but when confronted by the war (and one dominatrix of a mother!), can their love survive?

In an exclusive pre-West End premiere, Kneehigh’s award-winning Director Emma Rice returns to direct one of her first major new works since the West End and Broadway hit, Brief Encounter. With a score by the Grammy and Oscar winning composer Michel Legrand (Yentl, Windmills of your Mind) Umbrellas features two of Legrand’s greatest songs “Watch What Happens” and “I Will Wait For You”.

Expect romance, heart-break and surprise with this exciting new adaptation of the cult French musical film.
