FAMILY DAYS

We have introduced brand new Family Days which will include a range of activities for all to enjoy. Alongside the fantastic family productions on our theatre stage, there will be a whole host of free, fun and family friendly entertainment to make your visit even more enjoyable.

THE SPARK FESTIVAL FAMILY DAY
Sat 27 May, 11am – 4pm

Come play and explore in and around our theatre spaces and foyer. There will be free workshops and drop in activities, including Poems to Go, live music, building tours, The Shadow Box workshops, dressing up and the return of the Toy Swap Shop.

THE CIRCLE SQUARED
Sat 27 & Sun 28 May, 11am – 4pm

A special highlight of our Family Day includes The Circle Squared – an interactive digital dome on our Theatre stage. The installation by Graham Elstone uses touch, sound and the moving image, inspired by the circular arc of folklore and myths.

WHO GOES THERE – FAMILY WORKSHOP
Sat 27 May, 11am & 1pm

A physical storytelling workshop for the whole family to create your own fairy-tale through dance and movement.

The workshop will use the spaces and places, that characters and themes in the fairy tales we know and love.  Be prepared to be musical, physical and vocal in this fun-packed hour.

THE SHADOW BOX
Sat 27 May, 11am, 12.15pm, 2pm & 3.15pm

Step into the shadow box of light and dark and playfully explore how your body moves in the space. Through the Shadow Box workshop you will travel through imaginary worlds and landscapes using your shadows to create new stories.

The workshop will use yoga, creative movement and storytelling to bring a shadow adventure to life.

Suitable for children 5+  and all the family – please contact our Ticket Office to book your place on this session.

POEMS TO GO 
Sat 27 May, 11am, 12.15pm, 1,45pm & 3pm

Join the Spark’s resident poet and a team of young writers as they cook up a delicious serving of literary treats. With a fresh delivery of metaphors and similes ready to spice up with some zany word play and poetic pepper.

BRING THE PAINT GRAFFITI WORKSHOPS
Sat 27 May, 11am – 4pm

We’re excited to be working in partnership with Bring the Paint at this year’s Festival. They will be running children’s graffiti workshops from 11am-4pm on Mezzanine.
