Our youth theatre programme enables young people to take part in high-quality performance activity in a range of different art forms. You will develop your skills as a creator and performer, get close to the professional productions being made at Curve, and have the opportunity to perform on our stages.
We are always looking for young performers, actors, dancers, writers, musicians, poets, MCs and creative-minded individuals who want to give their commitment to extending their skills as an artist. Get in touch with us if this is you!
There are opportunities for every level of experience, all we ask is that you are committed, open to try new things and have a desire to make your voice heard.

Our CYC programme runs alongside school term times, with holiday projects and workshops also available at certain times.
Curve has sponsorship to offer a number of bursary places each year for young people with talent and from low-income families. These can be applied for when joining one of our companies.

Sunday mornings 10.30am – 1.30pm
Our exciting young Musical Theatre company is led and directed by established West End performer and teacher, Sarah Ingram.
Participants will develop their skills and understanding of all aspects of musical theatre from the historical to current.
You will be expected to sing, act and dance your way through each Sunday morning, and learn to tell stories by developing and presenting characters through sung lyrics, spoken text, movement, staging and choreography.
Monday OR Tuesday evenings 6pm – 9pm
(depending upon age and experience)
Our Act companies are led by a range of Curve artists who are both theatre directors and practising actors.
It is for young people who want to develop their skills by learning about the fundamental principles of acting to ensure their talent is able to grow. This will include developing character, voice technique, working from text, writing for performance, directing and devised theatre practices.
Curve will be selecting a company to take part in the National Theatre Connections Festival 2018 (12-19 years), alongside working with our 16 and 18+ age group on production projects to be presented in our performance spaces and in other areas around the city.
Saturday mornings 10.30am -12noon
7-9 years (School Years 3, 4 & 5)
A fun playful introduction to all aspects of performance. Participants will learn all different skills used in theatre making from acting, dancing, singing and devising.
Saturday afternoons 1pm – 2.30pm
9-12 years old (School years 5,6 &7)
An introduction for those a little more experienced in all aspects of performance looking to further develop acting, dancing, singing and devising skills in preparation for our 12+ groups.
Thursday evenings 5pm – 6.45pm OR 7pm – 9.30pm (depending upon age and experience – Groups will be allocated after the experience workshop)
Curve Young Dance Company is for young performers who want to develop their contemporary dance technique, choreography and performance skills. It is led by Mel Knott, Curve’s Head of Learning and Associate Dance Artist, along with guest teachers and professional dancers. We welcome dancers with experience in any dance styles, or those with performing experience who want to extend their dance skills.
As part of the company you will create different projects throughout the year, devising your own pieces and performing on both traditional stages and in site-specific venues around the city.
This year CYC Dance will have the opportunity to perform at the Diwali festival in October and in Mass Movement in February 2018 plus many more!
