Our Family Days include a range of activities for everyone to enjoy. Alongside the fantastic family productions on our theatre stage, there will be a whole host of free, fun and family friendly entertainment to make your visit even more enjoyable.

Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge Family Day

Tue 20 Aug, 11am - 3pm

This Summer, join us for the Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge Family Day in partnership with Leicester Libraries and the National Space Centre.

Throughout the day, enjoy free building tours and workshops, foyer stage performances curated by House of Verse, dressing up and crafts, storytelling and space related activity.

Leicester Libraries Hub

There will be hundreds of stories just waiting to be discovered in Leicester Libraries’ pop-up library. Take a seat and read independently, or get comfortable and listen as the team read your favourite tales aloud. Feeling arty? Visit the craft table to bring your own space-themed creations to life!

 

Dressing-up Box

Make like an astronaut and prepare for lift off with our dressing-up box, kindly provided by the National Space Centre.

 

Cosmic Cabaret with House of Verse

House of Verse are back with another eclectic programme of performances from a range of acts including HibwordAdam BOOMSpaceprov, Emma Ward and more; meet the acts below.

There will also be storytelling from Leicester Libraries at selected times throughout the day.

WORKSHOPS AND TOURS

The following activities are free to enjoy, but places must be booked online (by clicking the buttons below), via our Box Office on 0116 242 3595 or in person at Curve. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability.

Storytime Drama Workshop

Adventure through outer-space and tell the tale in this galactic workshop run by our Youth and Community Practitioner, Charity Muiruri. Perfect for children aged 7+ and their families.

Session times | 11am, 12.45pm and 2pm

Space Chase Movement Workshop
Rehearsal Room 2
Learn how to walk like an astronaut and create your own stellar dance piece in this workshop from our Dance Associate and Choreographer, Mel Knott. Recommended for ages 4+
and their families. 

Session times | 11.15am, 12.30pm and 2pm

Star Dome Experience
Theatre Stage

Thanks to the National Space Centre‘s immersive, portable Planetarium, sit back and relax as we journey together though the wonders of the Universe. Your presenter will guide you around our night-time sky and together you will look at the stars, visit planets and explore the mysteries of Space, in your own unique adventure. Recommended for ages 7+ and their families. Please note in order to see the stars, the show will be presented in a dark environment.

Session times | 11am, 11.40am, 12.20pm, 1pm, 1.40pm and 2.20pm

Behind-the-Scenes Tours
Meet at Reception

Go on a behind-the-scenes tour of Spaceship Curve, and get amazing access to our world! Recommended for ages 6+ and their families.
