Curve is committed to producing the most relevant and engaging work on our stages and public spaces across our city. We achieve this through our own commissions and productions, and collaborations with companies from across the world. We support writers in the East Midlands through our Script Club and WritersLab programmes.
Twice a year we accept submissions from writers based in the East Midlands. We are especially interested in writers from Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, as these writers are currently under-represented in UK theatre. All scripts are read by a trained panel, with written feedback provided.
After each submissions window a selection of plays and playwrights will be invited to join our WritersLab programme, receiving more in-depth support from Curve directors. A selection of WritersLab plays are presented each year at our annual Inside Out Festival, celebrating new work in the East Midlands.
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT
The submission windows for 2018 are Mon 5 – Sat 10 Mar and Mon 10 – Sat 15 Sep.
Please note that scripts submitted must be full written scripts for theatre (of any length). Film and television scripts or project ideas/outlines will not be read. Writers may submit one script per submission window. Any previously submitted scripts may only be resubmitted if we have indicated in our feedback that we will read a new version of the work.
All scripts should be sent to [email protected], or posted to Scripts, Curve, 60 Rutland Street, Leicester, LE1 1SB.
When submitting a script, please confirm your address/East Midlands postcode.
Every script submitted will be read and a feedback letter provided within three months. Selected submitting playwrights will be invited in to meet with Curve’s Artistic Team, with a view to joining the WritersLab programme.
Please note that if you have submitted a script outside of the above windows, then this must be re-submitted during a submissions window for reading.
If you are part of a theatre company or are a theatre maker/performer, please check out our Breakthrough Companies programme which may be more relevant to your work.
