Opera Exposed is a free and inclusive two part dramatic singing project for 14 – 18 year olds from Leicestershire, delivered in partnership by Curve and The Royal Opera House.

The course is split into two sections…

The Opera Hothouse
Here you’ll meet professionals from The Royal Opera House and investigate what makes an opera, opera!

If you were not able to make our first taster session, do not worry!  There is still time for you to apply and join in on our amazing youth opera project with the Royal Opera House.

All sessions for this project are held at Curve.

Opera Exposed
This time, you’ll enter the rehearsal room to examine the opera La Boheme through its story, music and characters. You will sing opera, stage scenes and perform your very own version.

Sessions will be held at Curve on:

Sun 2 Jul (Learning the Music)
10.30am – 4.30pm
Either 10.30 – 1pm OR 2 – 4.30pm

This time, you’ll enter the rehearsal room to examine the opera La Boheme through its story, music and characters. Taking away the music to learn and digest for August

Fri 4 Aug – Mon 7 Aug (Staging the Opera)
10.30am – 4.30pm every day

Everyone is welcome to take part in the project and no musical experience is necessary.

Young People and Families

There’s more to Curve than just great shows. We also offer a range of interactive workshops, activities and backstage tours available for all ages and abilities. From weekly classes to special one off opportunities, there really is something for everyone.

We provide a range of fun and interactive workshops for young theatre goers throughout the year. Our Workshops & Classes aim to inspire and engage our future theatre audience with cultural activity and exciting behind the scenes opportunities.

Little Movers

Tuesdays 10.15am — 11.15am

Little Movers is a creative movement class for children aged 18 months to 4 and their parent or carer.

The class makes space for your little one to explore moving and dancing with exciting multi-sensory props and great music.

Curve Young Writers

Every other Tuesday from Jan 10th 2017

Curve Young Writers is a creative writing group for young writers between the ages of 14 and 17. The next term starts in January 2017 and will explore poetry, fiction and playwriting skills in a friendly group led by professional poet and theatre-maker Jess Green.

You don’t need to have any experience as this is your opportunity to develop your skills and confidence.

6pm – 8pm

Access to Acting workshop with RADA

Sat 24 Jun 2pm - 5pm

Free for participants to attend

This fun taster workshop is designed to integrate disabled and non-disabled young people through a practical drama session. Led by RADA tutors, participants will find out what it’s like to train as an actor with RADA through exploring text work, elements of voice or movement and drama games and warm-up exercises. Young people will also get the opportunity to ask questions about life at drama school, the audition process, curriculum and studying at higher education level.

The workshop is open to young people with physical and sensory impairments and non-disabled participants aged 16-28. Come and join us to find out more about actor training and give it a go!

Led by Nupur Arts, these weekly Bollywood classes are suitable for ages 16+.

Our tours are scheduled for a variety of dates between September and December and will offer a unique insight into how we make the theatre that you see on our stages.
