Curve is a major producing theatre, creating exceptional and compelling experiences. We use our unique home and talent to entertain, inspire and engage with a modern diverse audience and play a leading role in the development of our industry, our city and our global community. At the heart of this is the ambition to offer our local audiences a world-class theatrical experience, which reflects and challenges our pluralist society.
As part of our commitment to developing new works, we are happy to read scripts and explore new forms of work which supports this aim.
Curve will accept submissions twice a year.
The closing date for the next round of submissions is:
Fri 23 Dec
Scripts and new ideas are considered by a team from across the organisation in our Script Club. They are then shortlisted to be read by Artistic Director Nikolai Foster.
If the work is of interest to Curve you will be invited to discuss your idea further. We will endeavour to respond to submissions three months after the closing date.
All scripts, recordings and proposals should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org or posted to Scripts, Curve theatre, 60 Rutland Street, Leicester, LE1 1SB.
WritersLab is a brand new Curve initiative to nurture exciting, emerging writers from across the East Midlands, who have an original and distinctively regional voice. The focus is on professional development by accessing the people and resources available at Curve.
Writers are supported over a 12 month period and will participate in script surgeries, workshops, readings and industry-focused monthly meetings with fellow writers.
Curve is particularly keen to hear from writers who originate from, or currently live in the East Midlands. We would like to begin building a dialogue with you and your work, and can tell you about how we can do this through our workshops, WritersLab and Artist Network.
We also host regular workshops where writers, actors and directors can come together with an existing script or a new idea to explore and collaborate.
If you are a writer who is committed to making work for theatre, or would like to find out more about opportunities for theatre-makers to get involved at Curve then please tell us more about yourself and your work by contacting our Artist Development co-ordinator Maddie Smart at email@example.com.
