Who we are

Curve is managed by Leicester Theatre Trust (LTT), a registered charity (charity number 230708). We (LTT) are an independent charitable organisation and producing theatre company, formed in 1969, and previously the management organisation of Haymarket Theatre. We are a National Portfolio Client of Arts Council England (ACE) and we also receive regular funding from Leicester City Council. We generate income through our ticket sales, bar, café, meetings and events, as well as through a number of founding patrons, sponsors and donors.

We produce a range of theatre, ensuring Leicester has a number of high quality home-produced pieces of theatre per year, covering a wide range of the artistic spectrum - and make these shows available at accessible prices.  Whilst we are primarily a producing house, we are also able to welcome a wide range of touring productions too, giving our annual programme a diverse and artistically interesting aspect, from ever popular musicals right through to challenging studio dramas.

Our History

From 1973 to 2007, Leicester Theatre Trust produced work in and operated the Haymarket Theatre based in the Haymarket Shopping Centre in Leicester city centre. Notable productions produced at the Haymarket Theatre include Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, Follies, Into the Woods and A Little Night Music, as well as West Side Story, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Godspell and the local favourite that is Hot Stuff!

The Haymarket Theatre closed in January 2007. The last show to be produced there was The Wizard of Oz starring Helena Blackman and Ceri Dupree.

Curve opened in November 2008, and has since staged a wide number of our Curve Productions, Co-Productions and Collaborations, such as Lift Off, The King and I, Salome, 3 co-productions with Akram Khan Company, and The Pillowman to name a few, as well touring work as diverse as Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, Blood Brothers, The Gruffalo, Red Shoes, Quarantine's Susan and Darren, and the performances in the annual Comedy Festival, Spark Festival and the Darbar Festival.
