SERIOUS MONEY & FEN
28 FEB - 9 MAR 2013
Building on last year’s successful collaboration, Curve and DMU present two classic plays by Olivier Award winner Caryl Churchill.
Serious Money is set under the watch of a Tory government. Recession grips the country and the City is hurtling towards a catastrophic meltdown while bankers and traders strike deals that reduce nations to mere commodities. Sound familiar?
This is a timely revival for an award-winning play first produced in 1987 and now directed by Curve Associate Director Suba Das. Murder and the hunt for justice against the backdrop of a society tipping into chaos confronts us all with the question: has anything really changed?
Fen, directed by Curve Associate Director Tim Ford, is a love story, a ghost story, a story of the impact of multi-national agri-business on the local people of the English fens. Their fierce ancestors still haunt the land, while they labour as low-wage farm workers for the profit of foreign conglomerates.
Fen follows the interweaving lives of different generations of women, exploring the relationship between aspiration and expectation.
